Practitioner Diploma

Twelve months, sixty logged readings, and a supervisor who reads every write-up. The qualification we award is ours — there is no national body for this — so what it is worth depends entirely on what we make you do to get it.

Who it is for

People who already read competently for others and intend to charge for it, or who are being asked to read in a professional setting — a wellbeing practice, a festival, a shop — and want to know they are doing it responsibly. If you have not yet read for a dozen strangers, Reading for Others comes first.

The year

Supervision. One hour a month, one to one, with a tutor who is not the person marking your case study. It is the most expensive part of the course to run and the part graduates mention most often afterwards.

Roughly one in six candidates is referred on at least one component and completes it in the following term. Nobody has ever been failed outright without a conversation months earlier about whether to defer.

Fee

£1,880, or twelve monthly payments of £157 with a £200 deposit. That covers all teaching, twelve supervision hours, both marking rounds and one resit of any referred component. A second resit is £120. There are no other charges.

What the certificate does and does not mean

It means a named tutor watched you read four times, that sixty of your readings were read and commented on, and that you passed an ethics paper set by this school. It does not confer a licence, membership of a professional register, or any status recognised by an insurer. Tarot is not a regulated occupation in the UK and we would rather say so plainly than imply an authority we do not have.

Applying

There is no application form. Write to the studio describing what you read now, for whom, and what you want the year to change. We reply with either an offer, a suggestion to take Reading for Others first, or occasionally the observation that you do not need a diploma for what you have described.
